Alice B Gardens

I adore Alice Garden's photography. I love soft, pastel toned photography. I think it's captivating and dreamy and she makes ordinary house hold objects look amazingly beautiful.

The Disposable Memory Project

The Disposable Memory Project is one of the greatest creative initiatives that I have seen for a very long time! It has nothing to do with skill, or the final outcome, but the journey and the people that created that journey.

"we're leaving disposable cameras around the world. people are picking them up, taking a few photos and passing them on, eventually returning home - so we can tell their stories."

Want to get involved in this journey? Go to their website to find more info and check out some awesome journeys that some of these cameras have been on! These are just a few snapshots of Mr Pooh Bear taking a trip down to the South Pole.

Enjoy!

This is the day.

Today has finally come!

We are celebrating the opening of our second jewellery store today, and it is exciting times as we expand into gifts and homeware too. So today I am in celebration mode! Hours of hard work pays off and I cannot wait to see the look on people's faces as they enter our little wonderland.

I made sure I scheduled in lovely posts to keep you busy, as I don't have much time to sit and plan posts now a days. I will be back in full swing soon, but in the meantime check out this captivating photographer Yvette, whose work I just can't get enough off! Absolutely stunning!

Hello there.

(credit)

Just thought I would say a quick hello everyone, as this isn't going to be a long post. But I didn't want to leave you all with nothing to look at for the day. I have some exciting news to be shared soon too, so keep your eyes peeled :)

Record your journey.

(credit)

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would know I love notebooks! I am a frantic list maker and love knowing what to do and what has been done. Now I know this isn't exactly a notebook to write in, but I just adore this handmade scrapbook journal by Chelsea. So sweet how the things you would normally throw away after a big trip, she used as memorabilia and created a beautiful journal of her trip.

I love (not) rainy days.

(credit)

Ok, so I will be putting a bit of a spin on this Much Love Monday.

I love (not) rainy days.
There's nothing like a beautiful crisp winter's day, not cloud in the sky and the sun finally bringing some warmth to your bones. This last week we have had the most beautiful weather, that I want to leap with joy! I am just hoping this will keep up till we manage to make our way down to the snow in a couple of weeks. Funny how weather can affect your mood?

If your anywhere where it is currently winter, may you have some lovely (not) rainy days ahead of you :)

One day at a time.

(credit)

This is definitely my motto for the day: One day at a time.

Sometimes I have to remind myself of this, otherwise I try to fit forty-eight hours into one day. I've tried to take a few steps back and make sure I still get some time just to relax, so tonight I'm snuggling under the warm blankets, putting on a DVD and spending some good quality time with our family :)

Home to adore.

(credit)

So many lovely homes to look at!
But this one in particular caught my fancy. I love the colour coordination in her rooms, and the house as a whole fits in so well together (and especially the retro blender!). So today, I am daydreaming about a house :)

Happy weekend everyone!

Still Life.

(credit)

Don't you just love stepping back and taking a deep breath? At the moment that is all I want to do. Oh and sleep of coarse! Tonight was beautiful though. I came upstairs after work, grabbed my Frankie and laxed out on the beanbag in front of the fire.

Thank you Frankie for a good read. Thank you husband for the fire. Thank you Emma for dinner. Thank you Charlie for having your third birthday today so that I could have Barbie birthday cake. A good day I must say!

Think.

(credit)

And Re-Think.
What you want to do. What you want to be. Where you want to be in five years. If money was not in the equation, what would you want to become. These are the things I love pondering over.

I am starting as a tutorial assistant today in the Graphic Design department where I used to study. What an amazing opportunity! So I definitely have a lot to think about for the future, where this may lead to one day.

Bike away.

I want to trade my car for a bike.
It seems so much more economical these days to invest in a bike and make your way around doing different errands on one. If only it wasn't winter, I might consider it. In the meantime, I will daydream about the day when I will be biking along the streets in Italy, such as the beautiful photographer below, Gabrielle Kai.
So dreamy.

Where have you been all my life.

I have never really been a tea drinker, I admit it.
And recently I did a post on how I finally got into green tea. But it was only up until last week that I had another go at just your plain old simple Dilmah tea and I couldn't believe that I actually really enjoyed it! Don't you just love trying new things? I actually used to hate tea and look at me now! So proud :)

So this Monday, I love:

- TEA! I am venturing out slowly, so don't expect me to try all the weird herbal tea's all in one go, but I am warming up to the idea!

- All the opportunities I am being handed at the moment: I am starting part time tutorial assisting in the Media Arts Department at the Polytech where I used to study. So exciting! And managing our beautiful new jewellery and giftware store opening in two weeks! Even more exciting!

- The Shack. Just starting rereading it and I want to bawl my eyes out. What a fantastic book! I bet you this next month, you will be ready many a post on The Shack from me, so prepare yourself :)

Join up with Much Love Mondays, over at Anna's blog :) A big thanks to Anna, as Monday's are always a super exciting time for me to be posting!

Alison Scarpulla

Alison Scarpulla's photography totally captivated me. Not in a sense that a photo of a beautiful hot summer's day would, more like a fairytale that draws you in and leaves you anxious to hear the end resolution. It seems to me that each and every picture is a snapshot of a moment in some epic story that would draw on everyone's imaginations. So I urge you, check out her flickr account and see how many stories you can come up with from her photos and let your imagination go wild, we can never be too old.

Looking forward to a day of opshopping, dvds, good girlie company and no hubbies tomorrow!
Happy weekend!

Type me a letter.

(credit)

Let's be honest, I have never been a good writer.
English was my worst subject in school. I suffered writing essays or short stories. I get "your" and "you're", and "their" and "they're" wrong all the time. I don't know much about paragraphing. And my sentences always turn out to be too long.

But despite all of this, I would love to start writing letters. There's nothing as amazing as receiving a personalized letter in the mail. Or even better than writing letters....TYPING them (that way, I can disguise my horrible handwriting!). So one thing I am on the lookout for is a beautiful typewriter. I remember as a child typing away on my aunties typewriter, where there was nothing as soothing as the sound of the letters flying past in an organized chaos.

In other news, our new store opens in TWO WEEKS TODAY! So things are getting busier with getting graphics and material sorted, ordering and receiving stock and getting staff ready and trained up! If you want to have a look at the style of jewellery we will be selling, check out our website and facebook :)
