Guest Post: Oh My Cavalier!

Hi readers, my name is Dane and I write a blog called Tornadoes and Tigers.
Ilana has been a friend of mine for many years now, I studied graphic design with her a little while back and her husband was even a groomsman in my wedding!

Today I thought I'd share with you all Julianna Swaney of Oh My Cavalier! She is an illustrator and artist based in Portland Oregon, who is inspired by fairy tales, animals with sharp claws, antique ephemera and postcards among other things. Her Etsy shop offers a range of unique gift cards and tags. Also I'm really enjoying the mechanical animal paper dolls featured above : )

Leaving on a jet plane.

Well I am just about packed and ready to head off tonight. I always getting really paranoid about forgetting something, so that's why I always have my handy lists on hand.

So here are some things I cannot go without:

Now tell me...have I forgotten anything? I hope it's not too much of an overkill with the cameras, but I just couldn't resist :) Well enjoy the lovely guests that will be stopping by this week and will see you all shortly!

Double.

Well lovelies, today I thought I would just quickly share with you all one of my favourite new photographers, Azarah Eels. These are the most gorgeous double exposures that I have come across and gets me real inspired to try more of these on my next roll of film.

Thursday morning, I will be off on holiday till the following week, so shall miss you all dearly, but will be enjoying the gorgeous Fijian sun at the same time :) The joys of attending weddings in tropical islands. But never fear, I have the most stunning group of friends who will be taking care of my blog, so please leave them some love!

What a treat.

What a weekend! I hope you all had an amazing, relaxing Easter weekend just been. I must say, I didn't do much, but it was enough to make me so extremely happy and in total celebration mode! Let's just say there was a lot of food, a lot of sweet treats, a lot of hang time. These are just a few shots of my weekend, including Flopsy trying to take out the Easter bunny - she didn't like that she was not the only bunny in our lives anymore!

Plate Love.

This gorgeous little shop Ninainvorm has the sweetest collection of colourful and bright plates for sale. I love the festive ones that has the bright bunting around it, wouldn't you just love to have a food off a plate such as this? It would surely brighten my day!

This pretty much sums up all I want right now! Today was actually the coldest day of my life so far, and there is nothing quite like coming home to warm woollies, a cup of tea, blogging, and enjoying a movie with leftover treats from yesterday's baby shower, bliss! I am planning for some more slowcooking meals, homemade soup and rasberry & peach herbal tea (which I tried for the first time this weekend, and loved!) to survive this week.

Baby Time.

Well, this sure was a very eventful weekend, filled with a bridal shower, a birthday and a baby shower! Here are just a few snippets of Emma from But Honestly's baby shower we celebrated on the weekend, which was a mustache themed shower as it is a BOY! Make sure you head over to her blog to see some more snaps going up in the next few days :) I cannot wait to snuggle the darling, and shower him with so much love and cuddles!

Oh how it makes me want a little baby bean so, so badly...

The Honey Trees

I came across The Honey Trees a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with their sweet music. But it wasn't until today, that I realized that the talented photographer/videographer, that did the filming and editing for their video, To Be With You, is the vocalist's brother, Simon Filip. What a talented family! I love everything about this music video, it has a story which evolves, beautiful scenery, gorgeous wardrobe and best of all, fantastic music.

Closet Case Vintage Lookbook

Closet Case Vintage has done such an incredible campaign for their latest Spring/Summer Collection, and I fell in love with their current Lookbook. The sweet, soft and childlike photography is captured by the talented Cristina Viscu, and she did such a stunning job in displaying the simplicity and innocence of this era.

And to add into their advertising campaign, here is a beautiful video that captures the photoshoot, accompanied with music by folk style artist, Natalie Prass.

Living Space: Frank Höhne.

I've been such a fan of Freunde von Freunde ever since I did this post a while back. Such a great place to get interior inspiration from a bunch of different creative and successful people that let us have a closer look at their home and studio spaces.

A particular living space I enjoyed, was that of illustrator Frank Höhne. He created the perfect balance between classic and contemporary, and I especially love the beautiful skirtings, big windows, coloured furniture, awesome lighting and a great selection of art prints and photographs on the walls.

We had everything.

Now this is a real treat. These wonderful creations by Rob Ryan definitely made my day! I am such a fan of paper cut out illustrations, and when I saw that Rob incorporated his designs into plates, tiles, cushions, screenprints and art prints, I knew he was worth sharing. His website is a must visit, and I must say I am fond of the bright highlight colours and simple layout design is enough to keep me on there for hours.

Well I am off to see The Sound of Music production tonight, so will be enjoying an evening of sing along fun and sweet childhood memories :)

Winter Approaching.

Colour fading. Cosy jumpers. Hot tea in all kinds of flavours. Blankets pulled up to your neck. Soup. Slow Cooker. Booties. Snow. Fuzzy beanies.

Finally, it feels like winter is approaching fast! Yesterday was the first day where the cold air pierced through my jacket and chilled my bones, and to tell you the truth, it got me a little bit excited as there is so much to look forward to this winter. Am I the only one that seems so fond of this season?

Just a heads up,  our internet is having a mental breakdown at the moment, so I am terribly sorry if I may a bit scarce! I do check my emails daily, so if you want to just pop by and say hi, you are more than welcome to :) Also, loving the photos that are already loaded up onto the Lomography & See Me Everywhere Competition flickr stream, there are some great ideas already!
